Helmet Policy

The Gentle Cowgirl

At The Gentle Cowgirl, safety is a top priority for every rider, at every stage of their journey.

Helmet Requirement

All riders under the age of 18 are required to wear a properly fitted, ASTM/SEI-certified riding helmet at all times while mounted on a horse.

This includes:

• Lessons

• Practice rides

• Events or exhibitions

• Any time a rider is seated on a horse

Helmet Standards

Helmets must:

• Be designed specifically for equestrian use

• Meet ASTM/SEI safety certification standards

• Be in good condition (no prior impact damage)

• Fit securely and properly fastened at all times

Bike helmets or other non-equestrian helmets are not permitted.

Adult Riders (18+)

While riders 18 and older may choose whether to wear a helmet, helmet use is strongly encouraged for all riders regardless of age or experience level.

Parental Responsibility

Parents or guardians of minor riders are responsible for:

• Ensuring their child has an approved helmet

• Confirming proper fit and condition

The Gentle Cowgirl reserves the right to deny participation to any rider who does not comply with this policy.

Acknowledgment of Risk

Horseback riding is an inherently risky activity. Wearing a helmet significantly reduces the risk of serious head injury but does not eliminate all risks.
