Our Approach

Our approach to horses and teaching is a little different than most. Rather than jumping straight into the saddle, we start from the ground — covering horse behavior, body language, and groundwork before anything else. When a rider truly understands how a horse thinks and communicates, everything that happens in the saddle becomes more natural, more connected, and more safe.

We believe the best riding comes from genuine partnership — not just obedience. That means we take the time to match each rider to the right horse, build trust in both directions, and create a foundation that lasts well beyond the lesson. Whether you’re brand new to horses or looking to deepen an existing relationship with your animal, you’ll find a supportive, encouraging environment here where every step forward is celebrated.

Before we ride, we listen. We cover horse behavior, body language, and groundwork first — because a rider who understands their horse is a rider who stays safe, stays calm, and keeps growing.

A Note for New Riders

Why we start every new rider with a private lesson

Every rider comes to us with a different background, body awareness, and comfort level around horses — and that’s a beautiful thing. But it also means there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to teaching. Before joining a group, we want to get to know you personally: how you move, how you communicate, what excites you, and what makes you nervous.

A private lesson lets us evaluate your skill level honestly and safely, match you to the right horse, and build a plan that’s truly designed for you. Riders who start privately almost always progress faster, feel more confident, and enjoy the group experience so much more once they’re ready for it. It’s not a gate — it’s a gift.
